Returns transcripts of ATC transmissions in a time window. Each transcript covers one transmission, from either the controller or a pilot. Without q it lists transmissions newest first, one page at a time. With q it returns the transmissions whose words best match the search text.

Query parameters

Takes since, until, callsign, facility_id, atc_channel_ids, and airline_id as described in Selecting data, plus q, match, limit, and cursor.

End of the window, exclusive. Must be after since and at most 48 hours later.

ICAO callsign, e.g. UAL406. Case-insensitive. A callsign we have never heard returns an empty list. Cannot be combined with q.

A facility_id from GET /api/v0/facilities. Selects transcripts from that facility’s available channels.

Comma-separated atc_channel_id values, e.g. 4,7,8. Every channel must have is_available set. With facility_id, only channels that are in the list and in the facility are used.

An airline_id from GET /api/v0/airlines. Selects transcripts attributed to that airline’s flights, matched by the callsign’s ICAO prefix. Cannot be combined with q.

Words to search for in the transcripts. Cannot be combined with callsign or airline_id; it can be combined with facility_id and atc_channel_ids.

How q matches: all_words requires every word, phrase requires the words in order, any_words requires at least one. Requires q.

Maximum transcripts to return. Without q: 1 to 500. With q: 1 to 100.

The next_cursor from the previous page. Use it with the same since, until, and filters. Cannot be combined with q.

A facility_id or atc_channel_ids entry that is not in GET /api/v0/facilities, a channel that is not available, or an airline_id that is not in GET /api/v0/airlines returns 400.

The transcripts. Newest first without q; best match first with q.

Unique id of the transmission, a UUID.

string

When the transmission ended, in UTC, accurate to within 20 seconds. See Times.

number

Length of the transmission in seconds.

integer

The channel the transmission was received on. See List facilities.

Facilities that channel belongs to.

boolean

true when the controller is speaking, false when a pilot is.

string[]

ICAO callsigns of the flights the transmission was attributed to, e.g. UAL406. Empty when no flight could be attributed; a transmission can name more than one flight.

Transcript formatted for reading. When formatting is not available it falls back to the transcript as spoken, in lower case.

array

Timing of each word of transcript, as {word, start_seconds, end_seconds} in seconds from the start of the audio. Words are lower case and keep their punctuation, e.g. 776,. Empty when timing is not available.

number

Only with q. Relevance of the match; higher is better. Compare scores only within one response.

string | null

Pass as cursor to get the next page. null when there are no more transcripts in the window, and always null with q.

Pagination

With callsign or airline_id, a transmission attributed to more than one matching flight is returned once. Because of that, a page can hold fewer than limit transcripts even when more follow. Keep requesting pages until next_cursor is null.

Billing

Each transcript returned is charged as one transcript, at $0.03. An empty page is free. See Pricing and Billing.
